ACMD Research Week Art Prize 2019

Artists are invited to submit works for the 2019 ACMD Research Week Art Prize, an acquisitive award of $2,000. Artists are asked to respond to the theme ‘art in science, science in art’. Exhibition Aug 1 to 30, with opening night on Tuesday August 6.

Darling Portrait Prize

The National Portrait Gallery invites artists to enter paintings, which have been completed on or after 1 September 2018, for the inaugural Darling Portrait Prize, which offers a major cash prize of $75,000 to the winner. Entry is open to artists who are Australian citizens or residents and are over the age of 18. Artists may paint any Australian citizen or resident and/or a person or persons who have a strong association with Australia or who has made a significant contribution to Australian life. The finalists will be announced in November and the exhibition will be held at the National Portrait Gallery in March 2020. Terms and conditions are available on the website.

Now in its third year, the Maggie Diaz Photography Prize for Women is seeking entries from women photographers of all ages, backgrounds and career levels. The only requirement is photographers must only use available light. First Prize is $5,000 and People’s Choice Award is $500.

Mosman Art Prize 2019
Entries close 26 August 2019
Entries are open for the 2019 Mosman Art Prize. Established in 1947 it is one of the longest running and most prestigious local government art awards in Australia. This annual award is $50,000 acquisitive award for painting, sponsored by Mosman Municipal Council. Each year the winning artwork becomes part of the important Mosman Art Collection of modern and contemporary works reflecting developments in Australian art practice over the last half a century. The exhibition of finalists will be on view 11 September to 27 October at Mosman Art Gallery, NSW. In addition to the major prize the award includes the Margaret Olley Commendation Award, Allan Gamble Award, Guy Warren Emerging Artists’ Award, and Viewers’ Choice Award.
